Sometimes the pets are the best helpers, too, or at least not hindrance. I'm recalling a young mother from years ago before I was an IBCLC and certainly before Gonneke's eminent technique for quick resolution of oversupply was known to us. This mother was on her own with her baby, except for a large-ish dog. They took a couple of weeks to really get the mother-baby dance steps coordinated and she was using a rental pump to maintain supply. Well, maintain wasn't the right word as she was expressing about 3 liters a day (100 oz and I kid you not). She was exhausted but the pressure in her breasts would not let her reduce the pumping. I asked her if she was storing the surplus and she said 'Are you crazy? I don't have freezer that big and I'm too tired to try to package it so whatever the baby doesn't need gets emptied straight into the dog's bowl!' Pretty sure the dog had an easier time dealing with it than Virginia's parrot :-P Rachel Myr Kristiansand, Norway *********************************************** Archives: http://community.lsoft.com/archives/LACTNET.html To reach list owners: [log in to unmask] Mail all list management commands to: [log in to unmask] COMMANDS: 1.
