I checked and weighed hives today. We have 14 full size hives in double
deeps. and 4 nucs in double nuc boxes. Only four of the hives and two of
the nucs were down in the bottom box. The hives all have sufficient weight
to be ready for winter except 1. The light hive is headed by a late queen
and is still raising lots of brood. This is our 5th winter with bees and
the first time I have had this situation. Usually they are all in the
bottom box by early October. I know I have to keep feed above them, but
what did I do wrong to foster this problem?
