In Central NC there are several reports of bees working red maples for
pollen since last week. Not just spotted at hives, but clouds of foragers
in the trees as well.

Most of my hives did cease brood rearing briefly, but one has had at least
a frame with all stages throughout.

I hope there will be a honey/split boom this year with this early start,
but I am concerned about more problems knocking varroa down effectively
without a brood break, leading to higher varroa load in the spring.
