I lived on a 2nd floor when I had my 4th - a crying, high needs baby.  I also had oversupply (hindsight -he's almost 45 :-)  When we got over the early months, I used to joke and say it was a good thing there were screens on the windows or I would have tossed him out!  Of course, the constant feeding only made the oversupply worse.  

Sometimes you have to lay them down and walk away if there isn't another pair of arms handy.  7 yo old big sister would even hold and rock him for me. Fast forward 20+ years.  His significant other read the High Needs Baby book and asked me if he was a high needs baby :-(  Some kids just have this sort of personality.  Pat in SNJ
