I just wonder at what point ILCA might recognise that companies are seeking to circumvent the Code by setting up separate legal entities to market products not covered by the Code. We've got 2 so far doing this (one with the stated intention of entering the "breastfeeding market")- would 10 doing it call some attention?? 20? Gosh you make it easy. Those who saw Nina's presentation at ILCA would have seen another example of a tactic to circumvent the Code. It's not a new idea and while orgs like ILCA are looking at the "letter of the law" so to speak- companies who exploit mothers are going on their merry way making money with nary a care. And at the risk of being repetitive, an organisation whose job it is to monitor the Code, who has that as it's area of expertise (and nothing else) cannot be dismissed for actually knowing their job- it's their job after all. And that rather makes sense, doesn't it? A group established to support and promote the *International Code* has THAT as its mission. It is entirely understandable that they press for as far-reaching an interpretation of the *International Code *as possible. *********************************************** Archives: http://community.lsoft.com/archives/LACTNET.html To reach list owners: [log in to unmask] Mail all list management commands to: [log in to unmask] COMMANDS: 1.
