Greetings

I think the use of pico in picorna virus is not a scientific term but merely serves to indicate that they are very small when compared to other genomes. Picorna viruses have 7 to 9 thousand base pairs as compared to the larger coronaviruses which weigh in at 30,000 base pairs. Of course, all of these numbers are infinitesimal when compared to the human genome which has about 3 billion base pairs. The complete genome of Apis mellifera has been sequenced and consists of approximately 236 million base pairs.
