Hello

I have permission to postL

A mum took her 2 week old breastfeeding baby boy for a follow-up visit to a
Paedicitrician. As he was born with an ectopic beat the ecg was normal. He
didn't lose much weight, and put on 200 grams in the second week.

The Paed told her to supplement after every breast feed, as he expected a
large baby 4.200 kg baby to put on at least 70 grams a day. Grrr. I teach
that 20- 30 grams a day is a normal weight gain.

So now this woman's breastfeeding partnership is nearly ruined, by a
misinformed paed.

Any comments?

Sincerely

June Nicholls
