Jane proposes the most sensible approach of testing it yourself to discover what research shows -- there is very minimal difference between the volume of milk in milliliters and grams of milk. The last time I looked up the specific density of milk, it was really several decimals out before it would make a difference. A baby thumping the scale or a rapid change in temperature might cause more of a difference and even that is relatively negligible in terms of assessing an infant's intake.
