World Premiere of Suite Remembrance by Brian Wilbur Grundstrom at George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia on April 16 Brian Wilbur Grundstrom's Suite Remembrance for clarinet, bassoon and piano will be given its World Premiere performance on Thursday, April 16 at 8 pm at the Grand Tier III of the George Mason University Center for the Performing Arts, 4400 University Drive in Fairfax, Virginia. Performers will be Brian David Jones (clarinet), Ben Williams (bassoon) and Laurie Vivona-Bunn (piano). The 2008 Suite is in five movements - I. Seduction, II. Langsyne, III. Grander Days, IV. Brian Wilbur Grundstrom's compositions for film, orchestra, piano, quintet and other ensembles demonstrate an innovative use of harmony and melody, which although firmly rooted in the tonal tradition is entirely new. Classically trained in piano as well as music theory from Gettysburg College, he has continued orchestration and composition studies with John David Earnest. His awards include Encore from American Composers Forum and ASCAPLUS from ASCAP. He is also a grant recipient ??66rom the D.C. Commission on the Arts and Humanities, an agency supported in part by the National Endowment for the Arts. A member of ASCAP, Brian attended the prestigious prestigious ASCAP/NYU Buddy Baker Film Music Workshop. He has composed music for 2 Minutes Later, a full feature by Robert Gaston, in addition to a number of short films. He is a recent recipient of a Bronze Peer Award from the Television, Internet, and Video Association of Washington D.C. (TIVA) for the musical underscore in Sadie's Waltz. His music has been performed by SONOS Chamber Orchestra, Shippensburg Festival Orchestra, Trinity Chamber Orchestra, George Washington University Orchestra, NIH Philharmonia, Holyoke Civic Symphony, CollaVoce and The New Jersey Gay Men's Chorus.
