food for thought... It's become very clear to me that the educational emphasis toward exclusive breastfeeding in the last years has been heard, as I hear the term from mothers more and more, but it has not reached its target as intended. I have had so many mothers tell me things such as "my 12 month old is exclusively breastfed but seems to be having problems with chunky baby foods," or "should I give my exclusively breastfed 10m.o. wheat? She's tolerated rice cereal since she was 4 months old." Do others find this to be the case? Mothers seem to be under the understanding that no formula means exclusive breastfeeding. I'm realizing that when I write or mention "exclusive," I had best begin defining it.
