Regardless of where you stand on any one particular position endorsed by the AAP, Jennifer 
Tow's analogy illustrated the very different public health policy statements by the AAP 
depending on "acceptability" that sometimes overrides evidence.  After her analogy, I was 
thinking along the same lines as Judy about cobedding due to the "Babies should always 
sleep alone" campaign in New York City.  To date, I have not succeeded in getting the 
Deputy Commissioner to respond to my direct question of whether or not social services 
would take a baby away from its mother for cobedding UNDER SAFE CONDITIONS.  The 
written response danced around my direct question and never answered it at all.  

Excellent analogies.
