I listened to the podcast and did not find it to be negative, and I am very much involved in helping mothers pump when they return to work. The last comment about regretting spending the baby's first year pumping was a bit ambiguous but in the context of the discussion I took it to mean regretted pumping (and separation) instead of direct breastfeeding (and being with baby). It was a provocative article and discussion. As someone involved in the business of pumping and returning to work, in other words someone who helps individual women be successful in their particular and immediate circumstances, it was a reminder of my complicity in shaping those circumstances women find themselves in, and a reminder of my obligation to activism and leadership. A timely wake up call for me.
