I wholeheartedly agree regarding the excellence of the Gerhardt recording
of Hanson's Romantic Symphony.  And AFAIK it is still available in
best-ever (i.e. Stupendous!) sound on the Chesky CD "American Romantics".

Also, one other factor in the continuing popularity of the work was its
use as the closing credits music in the film Alien.
