Four Hands Piano and Choral Music of Charles Griffin to be Performed in England on April 26 and Latvia on April 27 and May 3 Four hand piano and choral music of American composer Charles Griffin will be performed in England and Latvia in the coming week: Saturday, April 26 at 12:30 PM - The U.K Premiere of From the Faraway Nearby for piano four-hands by Charles Griffin will be performed by the London-based Ivory Duo, Natalie Tsaldarakis and Panayotis Archontides at the historic Waltham Abbey Church in Essex, just 16 miles north of London, England. Mr. Griffin's From the Faraway Nearby was inspired by paintings from the American artist Georgia O'Keeffe. Originally written in six movements for two guitars, the suite was recorded by the Goldspiel-Provost Classical Guitar Duo. Sunday, April 27 at 4 PM and Saturday, May 3 at 6 PM - The women's vocal ensemble Putni will perform the composer's El Paso de la Seguiriya, a flamenco-inflected setting of the poetry of Federico Garcia Lorca, on April 27 at The Museum of Decorative Arts & Design, located at 10/20 Skarnu iela in Riga, Latvia and again at St. John's Lutheran Church in Pinki on May 3, as part of their program 'Spanish Hour'. The piece was commissioned by Putni, Antra Drege, director, with funds from the Latvian Culture Capital Fund and premiered in Riga in October 2007 at the Latvian History Museum.
