This was in my newspaper today and towards the bottom of the article is a small blurb about "she is still nursing her seven month old infant son". The judge wanted to make an example out of her so that children know it is wrong to cheat and lie, so she was just sentanced to six months in prison. http://www.latimes.com/sports/olympics/la-sp-jones12jan12,1,7163166.story?coll=la-headlines-sports-olympics What a sad situation. Six months in prison and a seven month old who is about to lose his mama and his comfort of nursing. She has until March 11 to surrender to begin serving her sentence. Hopefully she can gradually wean her baby between now and then so it is less traumatic on her body and especially on her son. Even the prosecution team wasn't advocating for the jail time and all were shocked at the severity of the sentence. This just seems so sad to me today. Isn't there any good breastfeeding news out there?
