Iskender Savasir: >Does anyone know anything about the Trio Argentino? The scarce info I have is this: the ensamble is now (June 2007) offering a series of concerts "off Teatro Colon". As you probably know, the Teatro Colon will stay closed this year due to a huge plan of architectural and internal reforms, and all the planned activity of the year was detoured to other halls and theaters. The concerts of Trio Argentino are taking place at the Jorge Luis Borges Auditorium at the National Library (excellent place for chamber music), and program includes Faure's Op. 102, Ravel's a-minor trio and works by Schnittke, Rachmaninoff, Brahms, Schumann (integrale of his piano trios) and Dvorak. Since 2005, the ensamble changed its name: "Nuevo Trio Argentino" (New Argentine Trio), perhaps due to the fact that they have a new cellist: Myriam Santucci instead of the former Jorge Perez Tedesco. I don't know the reasons of this switch. Concerning the other members, Elias Gurevich is a leader violin of the Camerata Bariloche, a chamber ensamble with which I had the pleasure and honor of singing Bach's both Passions (2002, 2003) and Salieri's Requiem (2006) at Teatro Colon. Fernando Perez is a superb pianist, and he recorded a chamber version of Brahms' Deutsches Requiem (the so called "London version" for 4 hand piano and choir) with the Grupo de Canto Coral directed by Nestor Andrenacci. There's more info about this recording at: http://www.gcc.org.ar/htm/camara/musica/musica.htm#aba I knew that the Faure -Schubert CD was nominated at 5th Annual Latin GRAMMY Awards, 2004. Except of this, I don't know much more. I also regret that the Trio hasn't more recordings, but unfortunately this is a bit difficult nowadays for many artists in Argentina.
