New England Conservatory Presents Sound Encounters 2007 Performance Workshops for Contemporary Music from June 13 to 17 - Faculty Includes Clarinetist Michael Norsworthy, Violist Carol Rodland, Composer Kenji Bunch and Other Distinguished Music Educators New England Conservatory will present Sound Encounters 2007, a performance workshop for contemporary music, as part of their Summer School programs, from June 13 to 17 in Boston, Massachusetts. Co-Artistic Directors Michael Norsworthy, clarinet, and Carol Rodland, viola, will be joined by Kenji Bunch, composer in residence, Ariadne Daskalakis, violin, Scott Kluksdahl, cello, Renee Krimsier, flute and Max Levinson, piano for an intensive performance workshop exploring 20th and 21st century music. The seminar will open on June 13 with a faculty concert featuring the music of Kenji Bunch along with works by Elliott Carter, Salvatore Sciarrino and Kaija Saariaho. Participants will receive daily coachings and masterclasses with members of the faculty on selected solo and chamber music repertoire culminating in two student concerts on Sunday, June 17 at 12 noon and 3 PM. The repertoire will encompass a broad range of contemporary chamber and solo music with special emphasis on the works of Kenji Bunch, who will offer a Friday evening lecture in addition to coachings on his music throughout the workshop.
