I'm not sure what you are referring to here.  Are you saying that
Sibelius's Finlandia, Smetana's Ma Vlast etc were hothouse flowers? 
If so, I disagree.  In any case, we don't have to listen to that music,
whereas prog rock, jazz fusion etc were hyped by media that did not exist
in the 19th century.  I wonder what Miles Davis's later music would have
been like without the music industry hype that told him where to go to
sell records.
