For tickets and information, call An die Musik Live! 410 385 2638 or visit them online at http://www.AndieMusikLive.com Friday, March 16 through Friday, March 23 - Charles Griffin's Murmuring in Comala will be performed by pianist Ana Cervantes in several locations in the state of Guanajato, Mexico, including the Casa de la Cultura de Irapuato in Irapuato, the Bellas Artes in San Miguel Allende, the Casa de Cultura de Abasolo in Abasolo and the Casa de Cultura in San Francisco del Rincon. Ms. Cervantes commissioned this 4-minute work from Mr. Griffin as part of a multi-composer project celebrating the work of Mexican author Juan Rulfo. Works by 17 other composers from the U.S. and Mexico were part of the Premiere concert last October, which also launched Murmurs from the Wasteland - a CD recording of all the commissioned works. A native New Yorker, his works have been regularly performed throughout the U.S. as well as Mexico, Cuba, Puerto Rico, Canada, Europe and Asia in such venues as Merkin and Weill Recital Halls in NYC and Washington D.C.'s Kennedy Center and SpoletoUSA, Aspen, and International Cervantino Festivals. He has received grants from ASCAP, Meet the Composer's Commissioning Music/USA, Queens Council on the Arts and New Dramatists, and commissions from Ethos Percussion Group, the Piedmont Choirs, and the Dale Warland Singers, among others. His work has been included on several CDs and has regularly been aired on major radio stations in the U.S. His 'Agnus Dei' was recently included on the program with which the Peninsula Women's Chorus of Palo Alto, California captured Third Prize in the Bela Bartok International Choir Competition in Debrecen, Hungary.
