I think the whole discussion on scale use and if any research in that matter is valid or not stands or falls with the answers to the question if we need to know grams to identify breastfeeding problems.
  And in answering that question, I think that this is one of those area's in lactation science (please do not call it lactation medicin) that is defined by personal skills, style and preferences.
  I for one am one of those who just can't imagine what weighing can tell me that I did not observe using other tools. But perhaps that is because I do not work in a hospital setting with premature infants.
