My letter to IBLCE: As an IBCLC since 1990, I am requesting that you immediately withdraw the new Scope of Practice for IBCLC's (remove from website and stop distributing copies) while it is reviewed and revised. The new Scope of Practice is inaccurate, incomplete, and poorly worded. It needs major work to become an effective document that will protect and support IBCLC's in their work with breastfeeding moms and in their role as allied health professionals. Huge strides have been made through the years in achieving respect and recognition of the IBCLC. This was becoming a valued profession in the eyes of the medical community and the general public. This Scope of Practice document does not support and acknowledge expertise and value of the IBCLC. As I read it, I question the value of my certification and ability to practice effectively under its limitations and wording. Very truly yours, Barbara Berges BS, RN, IBCLC *********************************************** To temporarily stop your subscription: set lactnet nomail To start it again: set lactnet mail (or digest) To unsubscribe: unsubscribe lactnet All commands go to [log in to unmask] The LACTNET email list is powered by LISTSERV (R).
