ugh - I was interviewed for this article, and I am quoted (a little out of context, I believe) near the bottom of the article; it is so frustrating how much power a journalist has to mask their own belief and make it look like truth. Take the headline - there is no proof of this! there is a certain segment of the population that is uncomfortable with it, sure - but to say that the US is increasingly uncomfortable is plain wrong, biased reporting. The tone of the article spells out the "journalist's" beliefs pretty clearly. I tried to make the point when she was interviewing me that the cover on the magazine is not what breastfeeding in public looks like - she seemed to get that, and yet wrote the whole article as if that is indeed what one does when you nurse a baby in public - basically, you get naked. give me a break Melinda Johnson, MS RD frustrated in Arizona From: Nikki Lee <[log in to unmask]> Reply-To: Lactation Information and Discussion <[log in to unmask]> To: [log in to unmask] Subject: US increasingly uncomfortable with babies at breast Date: Fri, 28 Jul 2006 07:12:14 EDT Dear Friends: Check out this dismal story. _http://msnbc.msn.com/id/14065706/?GT1=8307_ (http://msnbc.msn.com/id/14065706/?GT1=8307) sigh.
