The group of women in Seattle supporting Riley's mom Tina Carlsen were interviewed on the evening news after she and the baby had been located. They said Riley was a breastfeeding baby. I do not know at what point the hospital sought and got custody of this baby via the courts; before or after the mother left the hospital with him? With the news stating the arraignment date of when supervised visitation would be set up was a week away, I realized this breastfeeding relationship has been ended by the hospital and the judge. The real facts were very poorly broadcast here in the NW where this took place. Initially, when the Amber alert went into effect on the highways, it was presented as though it was stranger abduction. This was allowed to be erroneously put into the public consciousness over and over. My daughter, breastfeeding granddaughter and I were all three on the highway while it was being broadcast on the news over and over again. Obviously, from conversations with the mother of her concerns for Riley, Children's Hospital and Riley's father knew otherwise. No public credit has been given to Tina that he was stable and thriving and not in a life threatening situation. Later someone from Children's Hospital made that public admission--it was not immediately life threatening--he will not die if not immediately found. This was a congenital condition that at some point needed intervention. No public credit to the mom for her exclusive breastfeeding that he was in good--if not excellent--condition for the surgical procedure due to her breastfeeding him. The father tried to make that point in the news, but it was edited so that his statement she had an irrational fear her son would die from the procedure, was played over and over. My letter will go to head of pediatrics at Children's Hospital. Judy Ritchie Subject: Re: bf baby kidnapped by the state I don't think this has been posted--according to the info I have read, this baby was breastfed until the state decided it was in his "best interest" to be forced to undergo surgery his mother did not choose for him. This is very close to my heart as this is the kind of choice I made for my own child when he faced onging interventive medicine as a very young child and I refused all of it--choosing the correct path for him--a path I knew was right (excuse the yelling) BECAUSE I AM HIS MOTHER!!!. http://www.helpbabyriley.com/ Jennifer Tow, IBCLC, CT, USA *********************************************** To temporarily stop your subscription: set lactnet nomail To start it again: set lactnet mail (or digest) To unsubscribe: unsubscribe lactnet All commands go to [log in to unmask] The LACTNET mailing list is powered by L-Soft's renowned LISTSERV(R) list management software together with L-Soft's LSMTP(R) mailer for lightning fast mail delivery.
