Hi, Sure you are talking about breasfeeding books :-) One of my favorite is Core curriculum for lactation consultant practice (www.ilca.org follow "bookstore" ); I study on it during the day; but in order to explain how it is my favorite: I mostly go with it to bed and read some pages, the number of which depending on my brain state; And since a few weeks that I bought it, Breastfeeding Atlas (http://www.lactnews.com/) is becoming the other one favorite book; depending on the part of chapter I am currently reading, I take it to bed too (just text) or not (part with text+pictures, I may not disturb my husband with a large light.... and my little light is not enough to discriminate the photographs) I feel them as very good; also easy to understand (I am french); I like "Breastfeeding, a guide for the medical profession", from Drs Lawrence; to my mind it is the most hard to read but maybe the most complete to read; When I pass the exam, sure it will be my other "Bible"; because it is really deeply detailed. it may be the most interesting for you as you are re-certifying; Talking about review, there is the Comprehensive lactation consultant exam review of Linda J Smith; it may be more a tool than reading for reading (hope it goes well into english); it helps considering the situations, so the exam, and feeling the weaknesses we can have; In french as technical books we have translations of LLL Books; But there is only one book in french which may not be translated into english, to my knowledge, it is not technical at all, it is a review issued from novels, short stories; Claude Diderjean (LLL) collected paragraphs of books with a passage about breastfeeding, "anthologie de l'allaitement maternel"; great! But I am afraid you need to read french... it won't help for your re-certification; but it is a way to stay in breastfeeding without the technical part; Breast regards, Françoise Coudray (ADJ+ means breastfeeding twins) ----- Original Message ----- From: "James O'Quinn" <[log in to unmask]> To: <[log in to unmask]> Sent: Sunday, May 14, 2006 5:37 PM Subject: favorite books > > > Hello All, > > It will be time for me to re-certify next year and and I realize other > than Medications and Mother's Milk and JHL > I have spent my money the last four years on equipment rather than > books... > Could you all tell me your favorite books? > Thanks, > Jen O'Quinn > IBCLC > *********************************************** To temporarily stop your subscription: set lactnet nomail To start it again: set lactnet mail (or digest) To unsubscribe: unsubscribe lactnet All commands go to [log in to unmask] The LACTNET mailing list is powered by L-Soft's renowned LISTSERV(R) list management software together with L-Soft's LSMTP(R) mailer for lightning fast mail delivery.
