Just a quick update on what is happening in Massachusetts regarding the prohibition of hospital distribution of formula company gift bags. We had our demonstration today in front of the State House in Boston. It was a raw, damp day but 35 people turned out with mothers and babies holding posters in front of our large banner which said "Give the Bag the Boot." You can see the banner on our webpage at _www.massbfc.org_ (http://www.massbfc.org) . We seem to have gotten the attention of the formula companies as yesterday the International Formula Council issued a press release stating that "Massachusetts Mothers Overwhelmingly Oppose a Ban on Gift Bags with Infant Formula Samples." You can see this press release at _http://www.infantformula.org/newsroom_20060511.html_ (http://www.infantformula.org/newsroom_20060511.html) . They sampled 400 mothers - probably all of them customers of formula companies- quite an "overwhelming" response! If this survey wasn't so pathetic it would be laughable. Talk about unscientific!
