The lawyer was asking the client who would be to blame? The client thought it probably began in childhood, eating the wrong foods. It would have been a great if the answer would have been "it all started when formula company marketing convinced my mom that formula was good/fine/just as good as mother's milk", ...but they decided to blame snack cakes. In court the lawyer read the snack cake ingredients and outlined just what each Really is, ...one was a petroleum product, one came from various pig parts, one was from mashed up bug parts, ...YUCK! My boys are runners (one at UTenn Knoxville) so they very rarely eat that kinda stuff, thank goodness, and we eat lots of fruits and veggies, But, even tho I know very well the hazards of junk food I have some in my house. Why?....habit, marketing, lack of self discipline, etc. After that show I threw out some junk food. Now I am not totally cured of junk food but, consistently - over time - hearing about the hazards does effect my behaviors/choices. *One* answer to your question is mass media/popular entertainment venues, ...the hope being that the more "we" talk about the hazards of not BF, the more we educate, the more likely it will be that the entertainment industry and governmental organizations will respond. So, keep doing what you're doing. Maybe someone can email Donald Trump and suggest that a competition task for the aspiring apprentices could be a breastfeeding marketing campaign. ILCA, LLLI, and NABA leaders could evaluate the results and determine the winning team.
