Hi all I have an uncommon question that has really peaked my interest. I have a 1st time mom who tried her hardest to get her newborn to latch(really inverted nipples, short at best when pulled out) after weeks of trying, lots of tears, weight loss in the baby needing breast milk supplement mom decided to pump and feed baby only breast milk. This mom produces so much milk!! At 4 months of age baby is doing great. Mom's freezer was overfull by 2 months. She is pumping now 3(only 3) times a day-produces 20 oz. of milk at each pumping session for a total of 60 ounces a day!! What intrigues me is why? Does anyone know of any studies done on abundant producers? What is the reason hormonally or physically? Has anyone studied this to help those moms who can't produce enough? Let me know if anyone has any ideas.
