Hi I am a recently qualified IBCLC setting up in private practice. I got a call from a woman who wants to start breastfeeding her 2 week old baby. ( I have her permission to ask my colleagues). This is her 2nd baby , didnt breatfeed her first. The detail are: 35 week gestation baby , now day 14, bottle-feeding formula , she didn't express , tried to latch her on a few times but got no support. Now she regrets it and wonders wheather to try again. Baby "latched on" last night . She feels she has some milk as her left breast is engorged and a bit sore. The baby is rooting towards the breast and looks as if she really wants to breastfeed. Has anyone experienced this? What is the best protocol to follow? A SNS? Domperidone? How long will it take? Thank you Nicola *********************************************** To temporarily stop your subscription: set lactnet nomail To start it again: set lactnet mail (or digest) To unsubscribe: unsubscribe lactnet All commands go to [log in to unmask] The LACTNET mailing list is powered by L-Soft's renowned LISTSERV(R) list management software together with L-Soft's LSMTP(R) mailer for lightning fast mail delivery.
