Hi All, Those of you who listen to NPR (National Public Radio) may be familiar with the on-air commentaries people read that are about a vast variety of subjects. A couple of days ago a man was reading his commentary about something that Katrina had brought to mind for him. As I fixed dinner, I listened to his commentary very closely and absorbed what he said (at least at the time! ;-). Thousands, if not millions, depending on whether this was a Southern California-only broadcast or one of the syndicated shows broadcast nationally probably also heard him. A light went off in my head when I realized that here was a great "soapbox" with which to express the importance of breastfeeding, possibly tying in the situation of mothers and babies in Katrina's wake. I wish I had it in me to come up with a commentary that would really get to the heart of the matter regarding breastfeeding, and possibly I do and I will continue to explore my thoughts and see if I can get them into a succinct, readable piece that will grab people's attention. But I immediately thought of all you fellow bf advocates, many who are vastly more well-versed in explaining breastfeeding's importance than me. Might one of you be able to come up with a piece to send to NPR? The piece need only be about 300 words and take about two and a half minutes to read aloud. Here is the link to NPR that explains the requirements .http://www.npr.org/about/pitch/commentary.html Just a thought, Dianne Oliver, LLLL, IBCLC Simi Valley, CA - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Holistic Lactation 805-582-2058 www.holisticlactation.com *********************************************** To temporarily stop your subscription: set lactnet nomail To start it again: set lactnet mail (or digest) To unsubscribe: unsubscribe lactnet All commands go to [log in to unmask] The LACTNET mailing list is powered by L-Soft's renowned LISTSERV(R) list management software together with L-Soft's LSMTP(R) mailer for lightning fast mail delivery.
