Maksim Kuzin To Present Musical Dialogues: "Ukraine - USA" Concert in Kiev, Ukraine - September 27 Concert Features Music by American Composers Lawrence Dillon and Judith Lang Zaimont Ukrainian conductor Maksim Kuzin will host and serve as narrator for "Musical Dialogues: Ukraine - USA" a concert of American and Ukrainian music presented in Kiev, Ukraine on Tuesday, September 27, 2005 at the Chamber Concert Hall of the National Philharmonic of Ukraine. This concert, sponsored in part by the United States Embassy in Ukraine, will feature national premieres of music by American composers: Lawrence Dillon's "Furies and Muses" for string quartet and bassoon and Judith Lang Zaimont's "Borealis" for flute, clarinet, bassoon, viola and cello. Performers will be the Ensemble of Contemporary Music "Maxima", led by Maksim Kuzin, who will also host the program and serve as narrator in one of the other selections. The September 27 concert will also include music by Oleana Leonova (Ukraine), Jay Reise (USA) and Erik Jorgen Jorgensen (USA). This concert follows a September 25, 2005 concert by the Seattle Chamber Players at the House of Scientists of the National Academy of Sciences. Music by Russian, Ukrainian-American, Russian-German, Costa Rican, Estonian, American and Russian Canadian composers was presented and nationally premiered in every format from solo cello and solo bass clarinet to violin/clarinet and flute/marimba duos to works for flute, clarinet, violin, cello and percussion. Mr. Kuzin was the presenter and curator of the concert. These composers reflect a wonderful range of styles of American and international music and were chosen by Mr. Kuzin for this diversity. Maksim Kuzin was selected by Symphony Magazine as one of their 2005 Emerging Artists. He is founder, Artistic Director, and Principal Conductor of the Youth Musical Theatre "Maxima" in Ukraine, Staff Conductor of the Kiev State Academic Operetta Theatre and Music Director of the Ricochet New Music Ensemble. He received a Summer 2004 appointment as Assistant Conductor for the Hot Springs Music Festival in Arkansas and is a frequent conductor of contemporary music concerts at Ukrainian international festivals such as "Kiev Musik-Fest", "Youth Art Forum" and "Musical Premieres of The Season."
