Hi! I have permission to post on this issue. I have a pt today, first baby, with a hx of what she describes as a "macro tumor" of the pituitary gland, that was removed in 2003. She had lactated spontaneously for several years before this. The tumor was reportedly "very large", and wrapped around entire gland. Mom has not lactated since removal. She reports no leakage of colostrum during the pregnancy, and very little breast changes. She is unsure of any other medical detail. She is planning to Breastfeed her baby. After researching the issue, I'm more confused than ever. Will this affect lactation, and to what degree? What advise should I give her? Thanks in advance!!
