Hi. I have been part of the discussion about mucousy babies and I have what may seem like a silly question. When we say that the fluid is squeezed out of baby during a vaginal birth we are talking about fluid from the lungs, right? Fluid doesn't need to be sqeezed out of the stomach, does it? It seems to me that all babies would naturally be born with fluid in the stomach. So when we are talking about gagging, spitty, vomiting babies we are talking about fluid coming from the stomach, right? When a baby is born by c/s and doesn't have all of the fluid squeezed out we are referring to fluid in the lungs, right? How do c/s babies get rid of extra fluid in their lungs? For these babies that are sent to the nursery for suctioning due to gagging up fluid-are they having the fluid suctioned from their lungs or stomachs? I assumed it was their stomach. I am sure you all think this is a silly question and I should know the answer, but I just need to clarify my thoughts. Thanks.
