Judy, Thanks for the information on how 4-6 months for solids got started. I know with my own children, the pediatrician advised some iron enriched foods at 4 months, but I was going on a trip from NY to Cal. and he said just give iron drops, so solids started around 5 months. My second wouldn't take solids till 7-8 months, and my third, about 5-6 months. My granddaughter started at about 5 1/2 months, mom (my daughter) was going to wait until 6 months, but felt her daughter was ready then. I think the LLL guidelines are still a good way to tell solid readiness, not a hard and fast number, as someone else posted. IMHO, Ellen Mahony, RN, MS, LCCE, IBCLC Greenwood Lake, NY where it is cold but alas the snow had been melting too fast, (after I just went and bought new x-country skiis after 18 years, bought the last pair when I was pregnant with my now 17 yr ds)! *********************************************** To temporarily stop your subscription: set lactnet nomail To start it again: set lactnet mail (or digest) To unsubscribe: unsubscribe lactnet All commands go to [log in to unmask] The LACTNET mailing list is powered by L-Soft's renowned LISTSERV(R) list management software together with L-Soft's LSMTP(R) mailer for lightning fast mail delivery.
