David Harbin writes: >I wonder if this talk of the 'last great opera recording' is more hype >to promote the EMI Tristan recording than anything. And I want to know how much real demand there is for a Domingo Tristan, particularly given the shape of Domingo's voice these days. Furthermore, EMI competes not only against other labels, but against itself: the Furtwaengler/Fischer-Dieskau/Flagstad/Suthaus (*TWO* separate releases) and the Karajan/Berry/Ludwig/Vickers. How much better is this new recording likely to be? I do not understand the workings of EMI's corporate brain. Steve Schwartz
