Laurie, I'm a pediatric nurse practitioner who would advise your client to absolutely nurse as frequently as she feels up to and sip ginger tea or ginger ale as she can to keep up with the toddler's increased need for fluids. Research supports the need to also continue solids: low fiber, and no cow's milk. Stooling is the body's mechanism of getting rid of the organism, so as long as they are both hydrated, it's ok for the stools to continue. Good luck to the family!
