I could never *entertain* her that well at home." That attitude concerns me since I know families in which the kids are so accustomed to being "entertained" that they are at a loss when they have to rely on their own resources to keep busy- they need TV, a mom or some other entertainment to pass the time. I'd much rather see Benno tear apart the kitchen, rearranging it, than have to rely on me to keep busy. It's great when parents "get it" though, isn't it? I recently encountered Ursula's preschool teacher- Dirk thought Ursula would benefit from preschool so she went 2/week in the morning, IIRC, at a preschool just down the street from us. Ursula loved Diane, who was pregnant with her first baby when Ursula left that school- and of course I worried that Diane would rush back to work and be hands-off with her own baby. (I worry about that with everyone, I think...) I was thrilled to hear that Diane didn't go back, is a SAH mom who homeschools and knits. When parents give their baby a chance to get fully into their hearts, amazing things happen, don't they? (I was flattered too, that Diane remembered everything about dear Ursula.) -- -- Kate, http://systems.cs.colorado.edu/~kolina/advantages-of-formula.html Mom to Ursula (9.7), Sage (7), Benno (3) "It's unfortunate that in our poorly educated country, Kerry's very intelligence and refusal to adopt simplistic slogans might doom his presidential election efforts." ~Charley Reese *********************************************** To temporarily stop your subscription: set lactnet nomail To start it again: set lactnet mail (or digest) To unsubscribe: unsubscribe lactnet All commands go to [log in to unmask] The LACTNET mailing list is powered by L-Soft's renowned LISTSERV(R) list management software together with L-Soft's LSMTP(R) mailer for lightning fast mail delivery.
