The work is quite noble, with an especially engaging finale...an excellent recording. The performance is respectful and played quite well. For me, respectful, is not meant as a criticism...even if I prefer a performance that could be more personal. I have several works of his in my collection: La Burla, suite Cello Concerto Lustige Overture Symphony No.6 Quintet for Clarinet and Strings and some piano music and, his orchestration of the Hammerklavier I find his music to be very well written even if the thematic material isn't as inspired as Brahms. For me, his music is well worth exploring. Karl
