Dave Lampson replies to Don Satz: >They want us to replace our CD collections with SACDs, pure and simple. Not gonna happen in my case. The improvement from LPs to CDs justified abandoning the old format (pops and scratches, inner groove distortion, hiss, rumble, wear, uninterrupted duration), but if necessary (e.g., if it looks like players compatible with the current CD format may become unavailable) I'll buy a half dozen CD-compatible players and stash them. As long as someone still supplies 110V AC, I'm covered. I'm not going to replace 4000 CDs with SACDs for an improvement in sound that's probably washed out by differences in my listening position. I hear a lot of live music in a great hall, and CD quality is quite adequate for my needs in my home. len.
