When I used to work with teen mothers, many of them were given Depo in the
hospital before discharge and were given an appt for the next shot at the 3
month mark at their 6 week check-up. The rationale is to prevent an
immediate pregancy.  Most of the breastfeeding moms told me that their
milk "dried up" within 2-3 weeks post-partum.  Consequently, I found I had
a much higher dropout rate.  Too bad, when the breastfeeding rates among
teens are so low to begin with.
