When you are trying to train a baby to uncurl the tongue and latch onto the
breast, I think finger feeding is the way to go too.  I don't usually
recommend trying to BF at beginning each feeding.  It seems to really annoy
the baby and gets lots of "fighting" activity at the breast.  I prefer using
finger feeding for a few days, even a bottle (gasp) at night, before trying
to latch baby again. (Remember this is a new, tired mom, who is doing double
work by pumping and fingerfeeding.)  I also like to enlist dad  to help with
fingerfeeding.   Sometimes I transition to breast via a shield.  Sincerely,
