Bob Zeidler suggests... >Maria Kliegel ...I'm thoroughly impressed with her recording of the Kodaly >Sonata for Solo Cello (and other Kodaly cello/piano works). Aside from the DSCH, I've very much liked her Dohnanyi Konzertstuck for cello (Naxos 8.554468), and the Schnittke CD with his Concerto and other works (Naxos 8.554465) All things considered, the Beethoven sonatas disc didn't impress me. Sonia Wieder-Atherton is a very impressive young French cellist. With Raphael Oleg on piano she has a stellar release of duos for violin & cello: both of Martinu's and the Kodaly op. 8. (Auvidis Valois-Naive V 4716) Searing interpretations in excellent sound. http://www.soniawiederatherton.com/movie.html I haven't heard more of her on disc, but that prospect sounds very promising.
