Joe asks:
I'll need a pump to move syrup. What makes a honey/syrup pump good for
that task?

A progressing cavity pump will handle the task for sure ($2,360 U.S. Dadant
2003 catalog pg. 48).

Many small pumps will work *if* the honey is fairly warm. If you pump
really cold syrup with a small pump (Kelley) and a big horsepower motor (3-5
Hp gasoline) you will smell the belts burning up. Once glazed they need
replacing.

I never tried a water pump and have never seen one used. Maybe others will
comment on their use.
