I'ver nursed three babies post C/S. I found two IV type gowns helpful. The ones with the snap or tie to open the sholder. I put on on forwards and then basically left the shoulder open to nurse, then put on an other backwards to use as a robe type. They open downward nicely so you can get the breast out and see what is going on with the baby. There is no fabric on top to bother with. All the fabric is then *under* the baby. I semi kangroo-ed my last baby, whose weight bottomed out at 5 lb 3 oz and was "cold" (according to staff who wanted her under warming lights) I just popped her in the front, with the top down, firmly atttached to my breast, wrapped the second gown around us, and then had a tech wrap us in a blanket. She did well and warmed up faster than if she were under lights.
