We perceive the number of babies with often early, high bili levels to be increasing here, so I asked around at the Md. BFing support conference, then checked the archives here and was interested to see a number of posts connecting pitocin to jaundice. Or could it be related to DHA/ARA? One of the reasons the FDA didn't approve the original application for DHA/ARA was a concern about jaundice, and concern was expressed about liver/GI problems, too. Would neonatal Narcan help "lack of BF" jaundice? How to fix this? Re:head lice remedies: after SO many different treatments, the only successful, and BY FAR the safest and easiest remedy was to use a comb called the Lice Miester, from the National Pediculosis Assoc.,www.headlice.org. The process was to pull the comb through a small section of hair, swish it in alcohol, swish it in water, wipe it off on a towel, and pull it through another small section. If you use magnifier half- glasses and very bright light it helps, too.Non toxic, and MUCH easier than "picking." The combs can be hard to find locally, but I called and found one shop here with them. Quality time with the child is another benefit. Is there anything in print describing Nils Bergman's research? I am worried that the physicians here won't bother with a film. When I saw the film, it was such an empowering event for me that I can't wait to share it with everyone. I'm not sure everyone has that much patience, though. Over the past 25 years, the best changes in American birth practices were consumer lead. How did all these interventions butt in? If I educate the nurses in breastfeeding, and then the moms don't want change, it's frustrating and discouraging to the nurses. Then they give up. !
