Yes, I heard the Alsop interview this morning, too. Glavin is right: it was exhilarating. I was grateful a couple of months ago for a 10-minute "Morning Edition" segment on the Atlanta Symphony's new recording, "Rainbow Body," contrasting the 2 new pieces on it (by Theofanidis and Higdon) with the works by more established composers (Copland and Barber). Actually, "Morning Edition" seems to be having more classical-music segments lately, though my foggy memory can't cite any other particulars at the moment. Last week I e-mailed NPR and thanked them, just to let them know their efforts were noticed and appreciated. Nick Jones Atlanta, Ga.
