> Wow Jean, so what are you going to do to change practices and implement > KMC as routine practice? I have got the Training Department to agree to invite Nils Bergman as a speaker - but - this has to be arranged by the PR person who is dragging her heels! But, on a one-to-one basis I have been able to encourage and support most of our premie mothers and almost all our post-caesar mothers to practise some skin-to-skin care. Our nursery now has a small "kangaroo corner". That is a fantastic start Jean. It is the mothers who appreciate the benefits who will spread the word, and yes they do need the support and consiwtency amongst health professionals. A few articles on the topic could be left about for all to read. And I notice there is now a WHO document avialable on KMC. Since knowledge of this topic has been available for over 20 years now it is time to get our work mates to understand read and apply to practice for better breastfeeding outcomes. I hear people say they need support from the top to spend the time to do it but to that I answer hey, if we did it it would save hours of time and reduce cost so much that it shouldn't be a issue.
