I saw a baby today who was having a real challenge nursing. Oral anatomy is unremarkable except for the fact that her tongue is about half again as long as normal! It isn't thicker than normal, and there is no tongue tie. She extends it way past the gumline, and rolls it almost tying it into a knot! We can get her latched, but before you know it, that tongue starts moving around and pushes the nipple out. Any suggestions? Please respond to my work e-mail ([log in to unmask]) as well as to list. Thanks.
