I am finding the discussion on this topic very interesting. Feedback from moms on these products has been equivocal at best in my experience. One problem I have noted is that both products tend to "flatten" nipples between feeds. For moms whose soreness stems from difficulty with latch due to flat or inverted nipples, this tends to counteract the drawing out of the nipples from shells, pumping, etc. In my practice, I generally reserve their use for moms who have some objection to using Lansinoh, or for whom Lansinoh (along with correcting the cause of the soreness) seems to not be enough for healing. They do seem to be comparatively expensive to use. Has anyone had any experience or feedback from moms about the new gel patches from Gerber? We received samples of these at my birth center, and I am waiting to offer them until I know more about them. They are much thinner than the other products, and come packaged commercially with several (8-10?) in the package. The label does not identify the type of gel used; when I called the company they told me the ingredients were "proprietary" but did tell me that it was a hydrogel.
