I just love that description, and it gave me a good laugh.
I find that although Lactation rates are up, so is cost cutting. My
associate is often doing nurse's work because we are both also RNs. More
patients, but no more paid hours and still more expectations, makes this
employed LC ready to do something less stressful.
Also, the cycle is returning to C-Sections and medicated births in our area
of the country and I do not have the energy to fight that battle again. I
did it in the 70's!
I am not afraid to take the LC exam again;I've taken it twice. But the non-
reimbursed cost of the exam is another issue. My family income is too high
to be able to apply it as an expense for income tax purposes. My employer
does not reimburse for certification, even when it is identified with the
job, although they use it for customer service and public relations.
Still hanging in there! Liz Spannraft RNC, IBCLC
