I work for a Children's Hospital & am in the process of getting the process of running the Lactation position for the hospital. The hospital is wanting to know if I will be willing to do home visits & set up a program to do this (is fine with me) What I forgot to mention in my last post was at this hospital there is no newborn nursery or Neonatal ICU. We only have a Pediatric ICU, which does take newborns though. So I am typically not dealing with a brand new baby. I know I posted this information recently, but I have done a search & have been unable to come up with any results that I am looking for. I have a meeting on July 3rd with the director to start writing a proposal for this position. As currently there is no lactation consultant in the hospital and the hospital has not had the budget for one previously. I fell into this as I am a staff nurse at the hospital already in their Emergency Room (one of the top 2 busiest Children's emergency rooms in the U.S.) and they are creating this position for me. When I write the proposal it will then be passed to the higher ups at the hospital for budget approval. I am trying to get more information on how a program is set up & run if possible. Primarily I would be following cases where the mom is having a hard time keeping her supply or getting the baby back to breast after a big surgery or the child has a disorder that makes it harder for them to suck & swallow feeds. This is my guess now as to what I will be dealing with from what I see in the E.R. The majority of the patients in the hospital are on medicaid also. Thank you to Pat & Rosellina for your information! Any other information would be greatly appreciated! I am trying to put together a really good proposal that the higher ups just possibly can't refuse. ;-) Denise *********************************************** To temporarily stop your subscription: set lactnet nomail To start it again: set lactnet mail (or digest) To unsubscribe: unsubscribe lactnet All commands go to [log in to unmask] The LACTNET mailing list is powered by L-Soft's renowned LISTSERV(R) list management software together with L-Soft's LSMTP(TM) mailer for lightning fast mail delivery.
